Inside my purse or my "Mary Poppins" bag,
Full to the brim, if I must boast and brag.
Inside I have everything you might just think,
The only thing lacking? The kitchen sink.
Old receipts and old keys, used kleenex there too,
Oh no, I guess I forgot to close the glue!
There's my brag book with grand-babies' pics spilling out;
Look at my new grandson's beautiful pout.
There's my Ipod, my mints, don't forget there's my gum.
Now where did that piece of old shoe lace come from?
There's a wallet and credit cards, tweezers of blue,
A comb and a brush and a Tide stick in Que.
There's my mirror that lets me see ten times enlarged,
And that thingy that keeps my new cell phone recharged.
Some cough drops, some lint and a flash drive inside
A purse just for looks, that I cannot abide!
Hand cleaner and ear plugs and scissors and such,
And lotion that keeps my hands soft to the touch;
Some lip gloss and make-up, a book, make that two;
Some pictures my granddaughters colored in blue.
Step counter, inhaler, a Royal Thesaurus.
A letter I got from my best friend, Doris;
An old bulletin cradles a piece of chewed gum
What's that? Oh, I think it's an old cookie crumb.
If you want it, I've got it in hole dark and deep
It's only when I go to find it I weep.
What I wants at the bottom, so everything out
Everything here that I can't do without.
Some day I'll get in there and organize, clean,
But for now in a rush, gotta leave this whole scene.
So I'll put off again a big job that needs done
But for now gotta head off and make that bank run.
I'll get to it later, or maybe next week.
Or maybe some day I'll decide a technique,
To organize everything just tossed inside,
But till then I'll carry my "suitcase" with pride.
So is it a blessing or is it a curse?
Ah well, guess I better buy a much bigger purse.
I'll organize well as I place all my stuff
And pray the new size will now be enough.

Inside my purse
Ever so often
I clean out my purse.
I vow to do better
but things only get worse.
It is amazing
The things I find
No matter how I try to stay
Ahead of my own game
I often am the loser
And it's driving me insane
The cause is my own problem

Inside My Purse
I'm not a woman
And I don't carry a purse
Well, if she asks me I do
I guess it could be worse
When I hold it
Inside my purse there hides a gun
No one suspects is there
I bought it the day after I was raped
"Never again," I swear
