As we are aware, over the years, public schools have had several complaints and even lawsuits related to separation of church and state. With this in mind, here are some opinions on this debate, more specifically here in the United States.
I am for separation of church and state. I believe that church has it's function in all aspects of life and that a person can act as a representative of their belief's without the need for bibles or religious materials on a teachers desk in a public school. My decision for this is because if we allow the common Catholic faith in America to pressure the public schools to allow their church going teachers to bring spiritual or religious literature to the classes they teach, we would also have to then allow all kinds of religious materials including religions we may not like ourselves. As Catholics we have become more interested in making a point with our religion and keeping it affiliated with state properties and schools than living the life that Catholic faith tries for us to live. I think many people have completely missed the boat on what religion is trying to teach us. Basically live the life that your God would be proud of. Don't let little politically incorrect or politically correct things get in your way of leading your spiritual path. It's so easy in this day and age to argue your points about religion and what YOU believe. But, let's not forget that EVERYONE has their own views on such topics. Your belief's are no more valid than those that oppose your views. It happens to be a very hot topic to you. Well, it may also be a very hot topic to them to appose what you believe.
America was in fact developed from the principals of Christianity. That's a fact. We have had repeated arguements online or in the courts or at the schools as parents and even as students. We want so badly to make others believe your opinion should trump theirs. There's not win or loose folks. I hear that allot related to this topic. Let's take a look at both sides of that.
WE ALL CATHOLICISM INTO PUBLIC SCHOOLS
+) Now you have the opportunity to teach and preach YOUR views of the word of God.
-) If another student is brought up under different views than yours, even if you both are reportedly Catholic, now you have fellow classmates confused whether to believe your opinion that you are so eager to make them understand. Or should they believe what their parents have taught them all their lives up until that day?
+) Now you can take your bible to school
