I honestly do not see how anyone can be against the death penalty for those people we know for a fact have committed crimes like murder and rape. Life is a privilege, and when one violates that privilege by doing something so heinous, they need to have that privilege revoked. After committing murder (without justification) or rape, you are no longer a person. You are evil in a carbon skeleton. And I, for one, wish to eradicate evil from this world. When we do not properly punish someone for things such as this, we are saying to the victims, 'This scumbag's life is worth more to us than yours.' Is that what we want to tell a six year old who has been raped by his priest? I think not. Communities shouldn't have to live in fear knowing that sex offenders are living amongst them and there is nothing they can do about it. Killing off bad people makes the world a better place. It reduces the surplus population, therefore helping combat global warming (marginally.) It allows job openings for good, honest immigrants that would work hard for them. It makes our children safer. Do you hate children? If you're against the death penalty, you do. People can feel more relaxed around strangers. It would be a friendlier world.
As for life in prison being worse than death, really? You probably don't know this, but 'Life' means 7 years. 7 YEARS! And even if we were to send a criminal to jail for the rest of his life, all we would be doing is pissing $20,000 a year down the drain instead of spending $1 on a bullet. Also, keep in mind that there are 2,000,000 prisoners in the U.S. Do the math. Disgusting, isn't it?
If you don't believe in the death penalty, that logically means you wish everyone could still be alive. Do you wish Hitler were alive? If you are against the death penalty, announce at a Bar Mitvah that you wish Hitler were still alive. See how that goes over. Also, if you are against the death penalty, I want you to go up to a woman who has been raped, look her in the eye, and say, 'I honestly believe that the man who raped you has a right to be alive. I believe the man who gave you nightmares for years and ruined your life and/or innocence deserves to live.'
What it in essence comes down to is this. Either you believe the world is a better place with these sickos in it, or you believe the world would be better off without them. I know what side I'm on. The side of the children. The side of Justice.
