Forgotten Son
Crunch crunch crunch under his feet
Walking down the snow covered street
Peering through the window of a Rockwell scene
He imagined how happy their lives must be
They sat by the Christmas tree not uttering a word
Lonely actors on a stage for the absurd
His breath clouded the window obscuring the scene
Then he walked away a shadow unseen
Entering the park where he would lay
Happy to have lived another day
