Poetry: In memory of a loved one

by Carmen Spectra

Created on: April 18, 2008

A bonny boy was born to us this wonderful 27th of December day
His hair so dark, his eyes so blue
He was God's gift to our family in every way

This little boy of 'Ours', has a story to behold
His years cut far too short, by the ravenous disease that took hold
But our little man you have a story, to be told

We loved you and adored you
And that was all seven of us
And yeah I know for an outing we had to have a bus,

I bet you wished it was No95 bright red and oh so mean
You would have loved to have your very own 'Lightning McQueen'

You loved your No 95 Red Lightning McQueen
He kept you company for many hours
This red hot mean machine

And I'm sure Doc Hudson, Guido, Mack, Sarge, Luigi and Flo
Along with Mater, Fillmore and Sally
Will be with you where ever you go
Their shore to stop at 'Radiator Springs' as its their happy place to know

You had a fiver in your Cars Jacket to take along the way
To buy a burger at the 'Taste In '
As the road trip to the Piston Cup is on today

The cars have all lined up
With Lightning Mcqueen at the lead
To give their 'lil mate' a fitting guard of honour
The very best indeed

You are 'Our' story filled with laughter, fun, pain, tears and joy
You were the baby of the family, our precious little boy
And at the times you couldn't cope
You never made a fuss
You'd eat vegemite sanga's with ya dad
Which you loved to do so much

You loved to ride the takka
As you sat on daddy's knee
You loved your beautiful little farm
It was your favourite place to be

We had your laughter and your boyish ways for way to short a time
It isn't fair in the scheme of things
It seems such a crime,

So now we have your' memories
That money cannot buy
All who knew you loved 'You'
You were a wonderful little guy

What you gave to us
Was joy and bliss untold
You were so courageous in your fight
You were brave, and oh so bold

And as we held onto you
As you drew your last breath
Our hearts broke to a measure
That cannot explain the depth

A dingo howled at that moment
And the legend it does say
That the dingo is a singing dog,
It was singing to the Angels to let them know you were on your way

So 'Our' little champion now you're free from pain
We look forward to that day
That we will see you again

Run free our precious little son
Let your spirit soar
We could not have asked anything from you
You always gave us more

Fly with the Angels
