I hope you don't mind
If I use tried and true rhythm
If I choose words that rhyme
Rather than cadence that seems blithesome
One word on a line
Then two on the next
Doesn't fool me
It just doesn't make sense
We are faced with the blank canvas
And must put our thoughts down on it
But if we just make things up
It doesn't make it a sonnet
When words appear haphazard
Wherever on the blank canvas
Has nothing to do with poetry
It seems somewhat careless
And no rhyme whatsoever
What is up with that?
Poetry means a poem
Not a pile of words in a hat.
A blank canvas challenges
All who dare approach
Put it down but make sense
Don't invite your own reproach
The blank canvas can buckle
The strongest of wills
Put your mind to the test
The success will give you chills
The blank canvas will fill
Your thoughts will succeed
You will make your idea work
Your product will be envied.
