Poetry: Love does not die

Mom

Can it be two years past
since we lost you to death
can a heart hurt so much
do eyes hold so many tears
my memories are endless
of my days as a child
when you were always there
to mend wounds of body and soul
You instilled in me values
that sustain me even today
Your love was unconditional
Your support unrelenting
You taught me oh so well
The way to live a life
How to enjoy every moment
You set the example
Eight children to raise
Yet focus for each one
Each child needing attention
Individuality sustained
No material wealth for you
It was not to be
Only the reflection of us
Your reward for devotion
Always our foundation
The rock that we leaned on
We found comfort in your shelter
Now words on the wind
Remind me of your love
Although death stole you away
Your love does not die
You are the whisper in our heart
The burning in our soul
Thought you'd live forever
And in us you will
I miss you so much
I feel empty inside
I know you would not want that
and so I fill it with memories
of kindness and inspiration
a love that will not die
We are living examples of you
Your spirit still guides us
Rest is now your reward
We love you mom
This love that won't die
