Poetry: Snapshots

Frozen in time
Our joys and our sorrows
A snapshot to cherish
For all those tomorrows

A box of them found
Brings all sorts of emotion
Thought they got lost while you were moving
Just got misplaced in all the commotion

Remembering the past
Sometimes more than we can bear
Seeing pictures of loved ones
Who are no longer there

A shot of your mother
In black and white
Haven't seen it before
What a heart warming sight

You and your sister
Hadn't been together in years
You're firmly embraced
And bursting with tears

Each has a story
A past memory
Like the one of your cat
Being rescued from the tree

Birthday parties
You just had to capture
Picture so clear
You can almost hear laughter

The one when you were drunk
Lamp shade on head
Remember the next morning
You wished you were dead

The time your dog
Ate the couch
There's a picture of him
With the stuffing in his mouth

Your high school prom
Yes, that picture's there
What a stunning dress
But what's with your hair

The birth of your baby
What a beautiful sight
Nice of them to take a photo
After you'd been in labor all night

The good and the bad
They're all there to see
Captured on film
For all eternity
