Old Maid
I never thought I'd live this long,
I never thought I'd see this day,
And I realized this, just now,
I, my friend, am an old maid!
I've heard stories some folks tell,
Of people, just past their prime.
Though I hate to admit it now,
I am certainly past mine!
I've never been married,
Never had a child to raise,
Or fond memories to look back
And say, "Those were the days!"
Yes, I'm an old, old maid,
It's just the cold truth it seems,
I'm past my prime, I'll never get married,
After all, I'm almost eighteen!
