The Barbecue Burglar:
It all started last week on my birthday when I got the best present a kid could ask for, a Dalep 360 trick bike. It was the only thing I asked for, but my mom said it would be too dangerous and I shouldn't get my hopes up. Then on my birthday, my parents brought in three presents. None of them were shaped like a bike so I wasn't expecting anything special. I opened those three presents and ended up getting a sweater, a book, and a good CD. While I was pretending to be happy with what I got, my dad went out to the garage to get something and came back in with my bike. It was a dark green color with shiny silver pegs. It was the best surprise I could have asked for.
Now it's a week later and its Labor Day. Every Labor Day we go to my neighbor's house a few blocks away and have a barbecue. There are usually three families there including the Bilskys, whose house we are going to, my family, and the Goebbins. The Bilsky's live on the lake and have pretty much land. There house isn't too exciting, but what I am looking forward to is their long driveway. There is nothing like a nice afternoon spent with my trick bike and their long driveway. The only thing that could ruin this barbecue would be Kevin, the Bilsky's son, and of course if my bike got stolen. He is a few years younger than me and never stops talking. It gets on my nerves, but my parents say it's because he looks up to me and I should be proud. Yeah well either way, he is still annoying. So, this Labor Day was a special one because my dad convinced my over-protective mom to let me ride my new bike to the Bilsky's and then I can ride it all day at their house. The only rule was that I had to wear a helmet and I had to stay away from the Goebbins because they don't believe a child my age should have a trick bike like this. This would not be hard because I always got the feeling that they didn't like me. I would be more than glad to stay away from them. It was going to be a great day.
When it was time to leave, my mom and dad got in the car and I hoped on my new Dalep. It was a beautiful afternoon with the sun shinning and the sky bluer than the ocean. During the ride there, my parents followed behind me the entire time, but it was still worth it. The breeze was blowing in my face and I felt like I could do anything, so I tested my new bike. I tried to jump this one big curb and fell, I thought my mom was going to have a heart attack, but my dad calmed her down. It wasn't a bad fall, but
