Yes I do believe we are entitled to bring out babies to the movies, if we choose to do so. It is not our fault that the Movie conglomerates value profit over looking after all people especially families.
When I was growing up we used to visit the Drive-Ins. These are now the thing of the past and where are families supposed to go for family entertainment or for a night out. If the children got tired, we would sleep in the back seat, where mum and dad where able to watch the remainder of the movies, without the worry of offending other people. We also had games to play in the back of the car, should we be bored with the movie, again allowing the parents to relax and enjoy the movie. There is no such thing in a cinema.
No wonder so many families are breaking up because there is really no night entertainment to take babies to and that is when relationships can break down because of the stress on the relationship having another body to look after and all the mother's attention goes to that one little body and now people putting restrictions on not being able to attend movies as well.
I personally would not enjoy the movie by taking my little one to the movies, because I would be sitting there worried what other people would think if a) she started crying b) wanted to jump around, etc.
Some Cinemas are getting the message because I have noticed advertisements for mother's mornings catering for mothers of babies to take them along and where the remainder of the cinema knowing that this session is specifically designed for mothers and babies and that they sit there knowing this fact.
Too many of the family values are becoming non-existent. Now couples go out together to renew their relationship and leave the kids at home with baby sitters. What happened to the days where the kids went with you.
Not only did I have GREAT memories of going to the movies with my parents, but I also have great memories of going to dances with my parents, and falling asleep at the dances until it was time for mum and dad to go home. It was clean fun entertainment with no alcohol and as a child we enjoyed it very much. It also developed my social skills to a great degree, because I was talking to so many different people and respecting the people who were older than me.
My son has turned 5 late last year and for the first time since he was born, my husband and I are going out this weekend. We have not done anything up until now, because I question why did we have kids, if we have to leave them at home with baby sitters.
