We stood on the boardwalk on a warm Sunday
afternoon.
Your hand in mine, enjoying the few precious
hours we had to share.
I ran down the ramp onto the beachfront.
Grabbing some driftwood, I drew a heart. Our
initials etched inside. You laughed at my
gesture. We both looked down, observing my
imperfect masterpiece. Sadly, this testament
would not last. The winds would see to that.
So without a moments' hesitation, an idea
came to me. In my pocket, a camera.
smile told me everything. This was the moment
to capture our happiness. A carving on sand,
preserved in a snapshot.
Locked forever not only in time,
but in our souls.
