Over the past few years blogging has become a very important part of Internet life. I enjoy reading blogs, I like to know where people stand on many issues and I also like opinion blogs. I rather read blogs from " every day people" vs. those who are professionals in the field of whatever they may be blogging about.
I have based many purchases on blogs I've read. I want to know the nitty gritty details on products. How strong are they? Will they hold up with the abuse of my three year old? What trials and tribulations have you put them through? And of course, did they survive it? I also find it quite interesting that people find many other uses for products, that maybe haven't been thought of. Also, I have saved much money buying products that worked just as well for much less ( name brand vs. generic or less known names).
I read various parenting blogs. I have gained very valuable information in doing so. What have other parents tried? What did they like about a product aimed for parents? What potty training tactics have they tried? Where do they go for family vacations? I have gained priceless knowledge in all these areas through blogs.
I also read movie blogs. What other "every day people" thought about a movie holds much more significance to me vs. a professional movie reviewer, ( I'm not a 40 to 60 something white male, what do I care about what they thought) it seems most of the time I disagree with them completely anyway. I want to know what other SCI-FI lovers liked about X-men!
There is a blog for everything! No matter what you need to research, try reading blogs first. Most people writing the blogs have had the experience for whatever you may need more information about. They also provide many sides and various point of views.
Of course I have come across what I call Slam Blogs. I do not like these. I choose not to put down others ideas and morals that do not match my own. If a blog is not useful, I find it worthless.
All in all I find blogs extremely helpful. I like reading thoughts and opinions of others that help me make wise consumer choices.
