The case against Barack Obama's candidacy to the 2008 presidential election

by Timothy Buchanan

Created on: April 18, 2008

Obama and Clinton both lost the debate.

Throughout the past year, Senator Barack Obama has been free to identify himself as the candidate of change, who would bring, change we can believe in. The liberal mainstream media largely gave him a pass, refusing to scrutinize either his character or his policies. Many of his supporters have been carried away by the hype, without acknowledging the importance of character or questioning what he actually believes about America. But over the past few months, Hillary Clinton has joined with the more credible media outlets to expose the real Barack Obama underneath the phony faade he presents at campaign rallies.

Today, after last night's debate, media liberals and left-wing Democrats are livid and true to form they are attacking ABC's Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopolis because they dared to ask Obama a few questions of substance instead of giving him a pass as usually happens. Obama was visibly shaken and furious when George Stephanopolis asked Senator Obama about his association with domestic terrorist William Ayers of the terror group, The Weathermen. Following the 9-11 attacks, Ayers said that he was proud of what he had done-bombing the headquarters of the New York police department, the Pentagon, and the Capitol building. Ayers also said, "I wish we had done more [bombings]."

Obama's pathetic explanation did not put the question to rest. It simply raised more doubt about his qualification for nation's highest office. When ABC's Charlie Gibson asked Obama about his refusal failure to distance himself from his pastor, Jeremiah Wright-the man prone to bouts of screaming anti-American and bigoted hatred, Obama attempted to claim ignorance and excuse himself. But Gibson noted that Obama knew that Wright would be a lightening rod, since he retracted an invitation to Wright to attend the Obama's announcement of his candidacy for president.

The Clinton campaign certainly reacted in a similar fashion when NBC's Tim Russert of "Meet the Press" dared to ask Hillary whether or not she agreed with then-Governor, Elliot Spitzer's proposal to provide New York state driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Her five different answers failed to rest the issue. But the questions in last night's debate were asked by media people-those who usually protect Democrat candidates, and ask tough questions only of Republicans.

Last night's Democrat debate was as surprising as it was pleasing. Finally, for the first time, Senator Obama was asked
