A visit to me from the past
Coming up on me so fast
Bringing with it what I need
Helps me with my word and deed
Knowing what has already passed
Drinking from an empty glass
Yet inside is getting full
As life begins to wane and dull
A visit from the past reveals
Inside the cup a secret deal
It may seem empty to the taste
Must get it down no time to waste
Learning what had come before
Is the key to learning more
Inside of the empty glass
Is what all has come to pass
A special visit from the past
Put me on the way at last
To know the way makes me grateful
And now I am eternally thankful
So never leave the past dark and shrouded
Or else you'll find the way heavily clouded
Embrace the visit from the past
The way will be revealed at last
