I am the result of my parents desperately wanting a boy. If my mother would not have wanted to please my father on giving him a boy, I would not have been born into such a loving family.

Did I feel unwanted? Never!
Did I feel unloved? Never!
Was I told that my parents really wanted a boy and got a girl? Yes I was, when I was old enough to understand.
Would I have known, if I wasn't told? No, not really because my father being a builder took me out on jobs with him. He taught all us girls, the three (3) of us, how to hammer and build and be independent.

Did my mother try a fourth time? No she decided to call it quits after I was born.

By being born a girl, it gave me the opportunity to do the things that I wanted to do. If I had of been a boy, I would have been pressured into being a builder like my father. Of playing football like my father, whereas being a girl gave me the freedom to do whatever I wanted to do.

I have been blessed that I have had both a girl and boy, and yes I did everything (the old wives tales), of trying to conceive the opposite to what I had already, but would not go any further than that. I was told in the early stages of my second pregnancy that it was a girl and yet I still did not believe technology until she was born, even though the test I had was 99.99999% accurate.

We use fertility treatments to allow people to fall pregnant, but that is where it should end.

Societies focus too much on 'you are nobody unless you conceive a boy'. Why? I have as much determination, strength, character, wisdom than any other person has, so what makes me not as equal to than if I was a boy?

In some families I have seen that the entire attention is paid to the boy and yet they are not any smarter than the girl, no better in wisdom than the girl, but the girl is just left out of so many things.

People should try some of the old wives tales and see what happens. I learned mine from a magazine article written on Steve Irwin, where he wanted a boy. He even sat on ice cubes to cool things down. Animals do similar things depending on the heat of the nest (crocodiles) depends on the number of females vs males.

The difference of wearing boxers vs underpants can also make a difference. Try it!
