TEENAGE SURVIVAL
To parents of teenagers I give my advice
take heed if you will, I won't say it twice.
Your love is unquestioned, it comes with the job
but how to prepare for the ultimate slob?
Clothes on the floor; litter missing the bin;
crashed on the bed with ear-phones in.
"Mum, where's my trainers?" "What's for tea?"
"Lend us a quid, please?" "That wasn't me!"
We turn to our parents, "Please help us!" we cry.
"We need some advice. How do we get by?"
On gaining control, when laughter departs,
sweet pearls of wisdom they give from the heart.
"Hold them close, enjoy every minute.
If times seem hard it's best to just wing it.
When at last they leave, you help them pack;
change the locks, don't let them back!"
Bewildered, confused, this much is true
when the journey began I had not a clue.
How wonderful, amazing, always in awe;
to raise our children was certainly no bore!
Spending your money, eating the food,
leaving the lights on, always in a mood.
My advice for surviving all this and more....
before it gets any worse, MAKE A RUN FOR THE DOOR!
