UNEXPECTED
It was a bright and beautiful day and 14 year old Brigitta Smith was late. She did not want to miss her outing so she got up hastily. Brandon was still asleep as usual. Rushing over to the bunk bead, she poked him with her fingers. "Get up. We have to go. It's Labor Day and I want to have some fun" Rolling over Brandon yawned widely. "All right then. I'm coming."
Downstairs Brigitta's mother was preparing their lunch. They were going to spend the entire day having fun with their Aunt around the farm. There would be no time for cooking so a little snack would be a good thing. Checking on the time she called out loudly: "Kids, come on down and eat breakfast. It's getting late and your aunt will be here soon."
Two pairs of feet came crashing down the stairs five minutes later. Brandon was in the lead. Sitting down at the breakfast table with a rush they laughed and giggled happily. Brigitta's mother looked them over and smiled. Placing their bowls filled with milk and cereal before them, she sat down herself. "Brandon, Bee, what will you be doing today at your Aunt's house?"
"Fun, fun and more fun!" Brandon responded gleefully. "We are going to milk old Bessie and plant tomatoes, play with big rex and chase the ducks, and pluck the feathers from the chickens, steal the eggs and hide them in the tree and..."Brandon!" His mother's stern voice interrupted his ramblings. "You will do no such thing young man! You will behave yourself and give your aunt no trouble. That goes for the both of you" Brandon subsided cheekily. "Yes Mom."
The doorbell rang a few minutes later. Angela, their aunt was there. Shortly the children and their aunt were on their way to El Toro Dorado (The golden Bull) ranch.
"Now, listen children. I have to stop by and visit someone for just a moment. Is that all right?"
Both Brigitta and Brandon nodded their heads. No problem. Arriving at their destination, their aunt turned off the car, opened the back door for them to get out and told them to stay together. "C'mon guys, let's be quick."
The house very big like a Victorian mansion and the doorbell was long and deep like a gong. After a while it was answered by a tall butler. "Can I help you miss?"
"Yes, I have something here for Ms. Carlton.
