You're not the one

"Excuse me." Politely I projected.
"Yes!", he said without hesitation.

"I knew you when we were young."
"Not me I'm not the one."

"Well pardon me if I'm not mistaken,
You were the one I wasn't allowed to play with."

"No, Not Me. For I've been away forever,"
he stated anxious.

"Yes indeed after you kicked that ball
and it hit me, playing together was forbidden."

Shaking his head, "I plainly recall never
having been on this street at all."

Stubbornly stating the facts, "Mother
always said no, after that."

He laughed and pointed with his thumb,
"No lady, I wasn't the one."

"It was my brother, he lived on this
street with my mother."

"I was living with my Dad, best
idea my dad ever had."

"My brother was always in trouble,
I was always thought to be his double."

"Since I am not he, would you
consider going out with me?"

"No You're right, You are not the one."
"What am I thinking, I must be mistaken."

"However, since you are not the one,
I wouldn't even consider another."
