We are involved in a very difficult situation in the country called Iraq. Or might you say
as I am beginning feel deep down inside, that we are more and more involved in a religious
controversy. I am a Christian. That is good, at least for me. How about you. Maybe you just
don't want to say or you don't care at all either way. LIke the other day in a market line

waiting for checkout. I noticed a magazine on the rack next to check out and commented to
a young girl next in line. What do you think about that. She answered back to me in a very
disinterested manner. 'I don't care' When I repeated what she had said. She said again in
the same manner, 'I don't care.' Well now after about six years of this conflict with
constant violence just about every day. I am beginning to feel, maybe this is not the way.
Truly it more and more appears to be a matter of religion. Religion and Government or
maybe just , we live here because we beieve this way and that is all there is to it.
I know you won't like this, but is it maybe a Christian view against a Muslim view or even
an Islamic view. Are we taking on a religious war and regarding it as a political matter.
We are again mostly a Christian Country. Our polititians mostly make sure that they have
some kind of religious affiliation before they run for any office. We cannot hope to win
this type of conflict with guns and force. It would be foolish to try to convert a nation
to our way in any sense of the word. They have chosen to live this way and that is all there
is to it. Now maybe you would think of me as callous, but maybe that is the way it is.
What can we do then. We might be more willing to step aside a litle bit more and let them
work it out. Terror is still there, that I do know. But that requires a vigilance other
than religion. The terrorist that hit our country were mostly involved with an Arabian
Country. And they did make known their plans to do so. I am sure of that. They do well
with bragging of their exploits either past or present. Maliki is making some progress.
That is quite evident. And even he seems to have a religious problem. I know we don't want
to leave and have chaos ensue. That sure would not be good for world opinion anyway.
But it is truly a war involving religion. What I believe, what you believe, and maybe
what the other guy believes. Well, what would you have us do then. Well, we have conferences
with other churches. They listen to us and we in turn listen to them. It' called dialogue.
So here with a hope to all and with good will to all . Let's turn more to getting them to dialogue out their differences and problems And so we can concentrate on some of the other
great problems which we as a nation might have. So sincerely to all. That is my side of it.
