A Tribute to Unforgettable Country Lyrics
I've been meaning to call because you're "always on my mind."
I know it's late but that's because "I work shift work. A big ol' pile of shift work. Seven to three. Three to eleven. Eleven to seven."
Sometimes I go out and "I drink a little beer in a tavern and sing a little bit of these working man blues."
But mostly, "I'm so lonesome, I could cry."
So tonight, "I've got a little change in my pocket going ching-a-ling-a-ling. Wanna call you on the telephone baby, give you a ring."
If you don't want to see me, because "I've got friends in low places"
I understand, after all "a high maintenance woman don't want no maintenance man."
I'm going to call anyway, because "some girls don't like boys like me, awww but some girls do."
Come out with me and tonight we'll go "walking in Memphis,"
Then find a place where "the cowboy folk go to boot scootin' boogie."
You can shake that "honky tonk badonky donk"
to the "song of the South,"
because this is the place where people all know "you gotta have a fiddle in the band."
Man, "I love this bar, it's come as you are."
Oh, c'mon, it's not too early, it's "five o'clock somewhere."
I know your daddy said he'd "be up all night still cleaning his gun,"
but even so, I want "a little less talk and a lot more action."
I promise you'll never have to ask me "whose bed have your boots been under?"
Maybe it's "impossible this kiss, this kiss"
and in the past "if love is forever I've been a winner at a losing game,"
but this time I really plan on us "livin' on love and buyin' on time."
What do you mean saying "Did I shave my legs for this?"
Don't go "you're gonna miss this, you're gonna want this back."
What happened to "stand by your man?"
Aw, "I know what I was feeling, but what was I thinking?"
Now all I have is my "achy breaky heart."
