Looking for a relaxing vacation at Puerto Penasco, Mexico? Well if that's what you want is to lay around the beach wasting this incredible opportunity to have the best time of your life, then go right ahead and lie on the beach sipping silly tropical drinks. But, there's a lot more to do here in paradise than you could ever think imaginable.

What adventurous, water sports and activities can you participate in at Puerto Penasco, (also known as Rocky Point)? In a nutshell here's a quick summary: fishing, whale, dolphin, and bird watching. You can surf, snorkel, windsurf, scuba dive, kayak, sail, go jet skiing, go on a pirate cruise, or even catch the sunset on a boat cruise. You can even go on banana boat rides.

BIRD ISLAND TOURS

Leaving Puerto Penasco, you will sail to Bird Island for a bird watching experience that rivals no other. There are various tour operators and you will be able to hop aboard any boat for a four- hour expedition. You will thrill at seeing all the exotic birds, and the 20 species of rare birds that thrive here. It's a 27 mile trek where you can spot whales, dolphins, and stingrays swimming in the water nearby. You can swim alongside dolphins, and sea lions as they playfully frolic in the water!

FISHING TOURS

What an exciting adventure going fishing in what only can be described as fishing heaven. After all this area isn't known as a fishing village for nothing. For people that aren't avid fishermen, you'll love going on the trip, fishing on a yacht in the gorgeous blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. You can watch all the sea life swim around, in colorful schools of fish, catch whales passing through, and watch as the dolphins play in the water.

You may catch some fish too. Santiago's Ocean Services says that it is not uncommon for people to catch 300- pound Black Sea Bass. There's other fish to catch such as 80-pound Groupers, large Pinto Bass, Red Snappers, and for the kids, 8 to 10 pound fish.

PARA-SAILING

Various boating cruises can take you out into the Sea of Cortez for something you will never forget! You can para-sail right off the boat, and land right back on the boat. What a huge thrill flying 600 feet above Rocky Point's beautiful coastline and sparkling, deep blue water watching all the marine life swimming about.

OTHER CRUISES

How about getting thrown in the brig for trying to take over a pirate ship? Take a pirate ship cruise and have a great time with actual scurvy dog pirates that put on an amazing show, with parrots and the lure of easy money; there's treasure buried down there. Watch the sunset while on the tour, and take in an added show. There are sunset, margarita tours where you can dance to island music right on the boat. Get down tonight!

ENDLESS ACTIVITIES

Endless water activities abound at Rocky Point and there are numerous places to rent whatever you need, for the activity of your choosing. Many Americans from Arizona flock to Rocky Point and bring their own gear, because believe it or not at over 200 miles away, this is the nearest beach area.

Have the time of your life while you surf, snorkel, windsurf, scuba dive, kayak, go sailing, and try jet skiing. Something completely different to try is banana boat riding where an entire family can sit in a banana boat and get pulled by a larger boat. It's kind of like a really large dinghy, but is a lot more stable and lot more fun.

Water activities and water sports are so numerous in Puerto Penasco, Mexico that you will probably have to take one day to just lay around the beach relaxing. But why bother; you can do that when you get home.
