The iron warms the fabric
Imperfections quickly fade
As if they never happened
And no mistakes were made
If it only was that easy
To take away the pain
Of mistakes made when tempers flared
While standing in the rain
I cannot ease my thoughts
And smooth away that scene
The feelings flowing in my heart
Your words were much too mean
You want to stay together
And make it go away
I cannot forgive what you have done
I don't want you to stay
The fabric of our lives
Crumpled beyond repair
No ironing can smooth away
How you threw me down that stair

A laundry basket parked nearby, she's listening to the radio.

Never scorching,
