Leaning on their sides
Standing straight up
Stiff spines
Piled so high
I fear an avalanche
At any time.
Some are leather
Some gold, covers
Colorful as confetti
Each one unique.
Some just
Musty and old.
Others dog-eared
And thumbed
Pages ripped or torn
A few colored on.
Some fat and heavy
Some slim as
I used to be
When I first
Fell in love with
Words.
