I must of watched this film at least twenty times. I am not used to seeing Sandra Bullock play this kind of role because I have mainly seen her in comedies. But she played her character brilliantly without dispute. Premonition is that kind of film that grabs you from the beginning and grips until it ends. I think the twists are amazing, like the start of the film is a premonition and you don't realize it until she wakes up the next morning, that's like a jaw dropping moment. Also when she goes into the back garden and the little girl has cuts on her face, I assumed that maybe their daughter was in the car accident and survived, but it turns out that she had a different accident. The part that really made me angry is when she gets sectioned (again another premonition). But when you look back on it, would a mother really not know how her daughter had cut her face so badly? Only if she wasn't there but even then she would do her absolute best to find out how it happened. But in the actual film reality Linda saw the whole accident and wasn't committed. It's gripping that the audience knows Linda didn't hurt her child and it makes them angry that she is being punished for something she didn't do, but also the way she managed to stop herself being sectioned in reality was great. The whole film is actually one big twist and keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting to know how it all comes together. I think the best twist must be the end. Linda knows her husband is going to be the victim of a fatal car crash and tries her ultimate best to stop it, despite the face that he was going to cheat on her. The Hanson's are a genuine happy family, you've got a married couple living in a nice big expensive house with their two daughters, and they are still pretty young their selves and still very much in love. The flash backs towards the end of the film goes to prove that the passion and affection is still there and that Jim had no reason to want to cheat on Linda. So it's gripping when she tries to stop him being killed in the accident, but what's even more gripping is that it still happens. Films generally have a happy ending and as an audience you really do expect her to save him and for them to live happily ever after. Personally I expected to see Jim walk out of the flames towards his wife, like often in films they get out by the skin of their teeth. But maybe this was Jim's punishment for almost splitting up his family when he had no reason to? At least he had changed his mind and decided that his life with Linda meant more to him than a fling in a posh hotel, he had planned to go home with her at the point his engine cuts out and he's stuck in the middle of the road and he had told her how much he loved her just before the truck hit his car. At least Linda managed to stop her heart being broken in that way, it's just a shame that it had to be broken by the death of her husband. But I also love the reality of the film, like I said before you really do expect Jim to live, but in real life that doesn't always happen, life isn't like a film and doesn't always have a happy ending and I think premonition explores that point as well. But the best part has defiantly got to be the very end where Linda stands up and you can see that she is pregnant, that is like showing that Jim lives on through their children and no matter where he is now you have got a constant reminder of him.
