LGBT entrepreneurs are becoming more and more prominent this day in age. The success rate of LGBT companies and business' are contiunally rising, due to the striving efforts and commitment of the people involved. There are several LGBT people who have made their mark, through hard work and dedication, this has made them top notch entrepreneurs today. They are definete role models, and have set a trend for the future.
Dawn Ackerman is a female that has picked a goal and stuck to it. Her hard work and dedication has completely paid off. Starting with a ten thousand dollar loan and a friend, she began her journey. In 1997, Dawn founded EcoToner, a company that helps recycle used toner and ink cartridges. She also started selling office products along with her continual effort to recycle and reduce landfill waste. Dawn has been proactive in man aspects of her life. She recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ohio North University. While in college, Dawn was a founder of the first LGBT organization recognized by the college. Dawn is also a member of The National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and several other LGBT organizations. Dawn's effort has paid off with great reward. She was featured in 2006 as PlanetOut Entrepreneur of the Year.
Justin Nelson is definetely a political figure. He ultimately was a co-founder for The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in 2002. Justin also was the director of federal affairs and external relations for the American Academy of Opthalmology. Justin took a stand for patient and physian rights in Washington, D.C. Justin also worked as an aide on Capital Hill for the United States Senate. Taking a stand has rewarded Justin with many fine honors for his successfull entrepreneurship. Even with all his work he does business wise, he finds time to volunteer to help out with organizations such as the Special Olympics and the March of Dimes.
Kevin Luedtke is a very active entrepreneur. He works as a Systems Analyst for Global Purchasing and Supply Chain for General Motors Information Systems & Services in Pontiac, Michigan. He has been with General Motors since 1979. Kevin holds a Bachelors and Masters for Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University. Kevin aided in founding a national LGBT Catholic organization. He is very spiritual, being actively involved in the parish and local interfaith groups. Other activities that keep Kevin busy are activities such as working with kids in mountain biking. Kevin also is a peace officer for his local police department, which he has been doing for 14 years.
These are just a select few of many of the successfull field of gay entrepreneurs. The gay community is a growing one, that is sure to keep making leaps and bounds in the business world. More and more success stories will continue to arise, as LGBT trend setters continue making huge strides.
