Poetry: Day & night

The Seasons of Day and Night

Spring is in the air
As the sun arcs high across the pale sky
Life is abundant and the tree glows with bliss
Swaying and soaring in the gentle spring breeze
Lower now the sun goes,
But still life stays, frolicking and flying in the dying wafts of summer
Low, low the sun now is
The sky has turned a deep crimson,
The color of fall,
Stillness over comes the site as life sinks back into folds of safety
Now the sun is gone and black engulfs the dying light
Winter once again overtakes,
As shadows fall onto this site,
Off vanity and hate they feed
As they come into dying light,
The sun has gone, no more is it the guardian
The moon has come, warden of evil, to watch us all
Fires burn and children scream
As black engulfs the dying light,
Old now the night has become and the blackness's ghastly grasp is failing
Light springs forth and no longer does black overwhelm
For the guardian has come again to care for all
As light springs forth, renewed is life
Budding with joy and purity
And once again they come into the light,
Spring
