Poetry: Broken love

by Jenysie Jane

Created on: April 17, 2008

Broken inside
all the tears I've cried
sitting outside waiting
thinking maybe just maybe
you would finally keep your word
yet again I come in third
I fall in place after alcohol and men
Mom, please don't do this to me again
I wait and wait
and watch the gate
but still no you
why are you so untrue
I blindly trust
and once again am crushed
Dad is calling me
he sits me on his knee
reminds me of his love
lets me know I am his dove
wipes the tears from my face
tries to take your place
but no matter how I hurt
to me you'll always be first
I wish that you could see
how much you mean to me
why did you have to leave
then try to make me believe
all you've done is lied
and although I've tried
I just don't understand
I've done all I can
I'm only seven years old
I believe everything I'm told
but starting to see Dad was right
you won't show up tonight
because here I sit still waiting
thinking maybe just maybe
you will finally come
down goes the sun
the day is now wasted
as I start to face it
you are really gone for good
I've done all I could
