Assessing whether real men cry

by Teresa Ann Grimes

Created on: April 16, 2008

Crying is a human emotion. This emotion is not for one gender or another it is an emotion that comes when it comes. To say that a man is too macho to cry is a myth. Depending on what emotion is most important to us that is the point od tears. One might not cry due to death or even failure, but may cry because a ball game was lost or some other crises in their mind. It depends on what the tragic thing is that makes one cry.

Tears hold no clock, no timer that goes off when the garden needs watering, no agenda, they just happen when it feels needed. If one thinks he is too manly to cry, the time just never was the right one for him.

Ladies, you mean to tell me after a tear jerker of a movie ends, your macho man doesn't say, man, smoke got in my eyes, or my allergies are acting up again? They were emotional but wont admit it.

My husband refuses to cry. His although his eyes do get an eyelash in them, or he rubbed them with dirty hands right after something emotional happens. Face it, we all cry but a man wont admit it to anyone, or himself. To say that one is too manly to cry is hogwash, silly, and stupid. We all do it and real men do it as well.

I never heard of a fake man. A man is a man is a man and thats all their is to that. Men cry, and I am not saying at every drop of a hat, but they do. Any man that wont admit this is still a man, but a lier as well. Men, what the hell are we going to do with them. The thing is, they are too embarrassed to cry and when they do, we jump all over them as if it is something to celebrate over. Just leave them alone and pretend you see nothing and they will, like anything else, cry more and more because it feels good to have a good cry once in a while. Tears are the release of many things including stress. Holding in emotions is a major cause of stress.

The next time a man is in a situation that crying is a must, then let go and don't worry too much about him. He might be crying on the inside. Well, good luck and remember, just because a man refuses to cry doesn't make him more of a man, it only makes him more stubborn.
