Poetry: Betrayal

by Damian Brown

Created on: April 16, 2008

I feel like I've always had this feeling - resting somewhere deep inside of me, sheltered from the bright light of the world and it's judgements. Hidden until I need it most. Until I desire it.

I feel like the empty guilt and empty words coax it from me. The feeble tears, the gentle, cautious touching of my face, my arm... Believe me when I say you don't want this.

I can imagine a world that shouldn't become. A world where retribution flows like water. A world where wrath is karma. A world where my name, my reason, is vengeance.

And I can imagine you. All the empty guilt and empty words lost in empty screams and empty cries. I know that it shouldn't be this way but it's the only thing I have left to want.

I'll wake up one day, though I don't think this old world will be able to accept me for what I've become. But then they have you to blame for that.
