Stand Ahead
I stand,
An old man
Before my time
With a heart
Yearning for hope
Like hard ground
Calls for rain.
I stand
Toward the west
As heavy skies build
Upon the horizon
With lightning streaks
Under the purple canopy.
Still, I stand.
I watch and listen
To thunder drums
Of rolling bass percussions,
Deep sullen booms
Of pending hope,
From a distance
In hushed rumbling echoes
Across the open sky.
Still, I stand and linger.
The hope swells
And billows like the wind,
Swift and sudden,
Blows heavy clouds,
Full, with the deep purple
Heavy drink.
For the Parched earth
And parched lips.
Yet, it's only a hope.
Unfulfilled in the wind's
Empty offering,
I stand
In bitter orange swirls
Of dusty grit.
Still, I stand
As the grit returns
Back to the hard ground
The hope of rain,
Like the promises
From an empty love,
Passes to someone,
But not to me.
Still, I stand.

Poetry: Ahead of his time
by Sherry Law
He came to me, ahead of his time
And I knew we faced an uphill climb.
Anything but hearty and hale,
He was tiny, wrinkled,
by Gary Maclean
Ahead of His Time
He was walking, when all
Around him they were crawling.
He was speaking when the
Others were still bawling.
He
He was a man ahead of his time
A spirit untamed
A heart run wild
I met him as a child
Loved him as a woman
Bore his sons
And
by DL McCulloch
He spun tales to me,
a child at his knee.
Sitting rapt with awe,
I would see what he saw;
the world so large before me,
as his
Ahead of His Time
Conceived
Growin g into being
Unplanned in the heat of passion
Forced through power uncontrolled
A child ahead
