His tanned face
was even;
no deviation
from symmetrical
perfection.
A set of
straight teeth
gleamed
when he smiled,
and a soft
lock of hair
fell across
one eye.
It was not he,
but a less
gorgeous friend,
who turned
to me, laughed,
and said,
"Drop dead."

Put one foot on, then the other
Watch the needle swinging higher
Though she knows it's pointing lower
Than it ever did before.
