I do not cry, I do not cry,
No matter how hard you try.
I will live for me not for you
despite everything you will do.
You can beat me, you can bruise me,
That's all your eyes will ever see.
You can drink, you can swear,
I know the world is not fair.
I will grow up to be my own,
against all the odds I have known.
I will not let my spirit break,
though everything you will take.
I am strong, I am strong,
through all your wrongs.
I do not cry, I do not cry,
no matter how hard you try.
