With so many great Sci-Fi Channel shows to choose from it's a good thing we live in a world with DVRs. Sci-Fi produces high quality television entertainment all year long with their rotating series and thrilling, fantastical mini-series. Currently some old favorites that are beginning their latest seasons are Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who. We're mid-season in Ghosthunters, a documentary of sorts on chasing those bumps in the night and debunking ghost stories. Sure to be a new favorite is The Sarah Jane Adventures where a former companion from Doctor Who continues his legacy here on Earth with her own sonic lipstick. Destination Truth is an adventure into discovery of the most bizarre things on the planet.
The best night on Sci-Fi Channel, Sci-Friday, sets the stage for those defending Earth and those just trying to find it! In the Sarah Jane Adventures Sarah Jane Smith has been left on Earth many years ago after traveling with the Doctor as his companion from the Doctor Who series. Having spent all that time fighting aliens she can scarcely think of anything else to do with her life but continue defending Earth with or without the Doctor. She has a litany of tools and contraptions she can use to detect alien life and hopefully protect the planet from global domination.
Doctor Who is the longest running television show in history, starting in the 1960s. The magic of this show's longevity is the brilliant storylines and writing, as well as the Doctor's ability to regenerate to handle cast changes. Currently the show is focused on the 10th Doctor and his latest companion Donna. Although the Doctor's companion has always been cast as a beautiful female, whether they were human or not, there is a long standing rule that no romantic involvement should develop. This rule was skewed a bit when the 9th Doctor picked up Rose Tyler. When she was forced to be left behind by the 10th Doctor it was apparent that their relationship had gone farther than it should have. This season promises to be an exciting one as Rose is going to find her way back to her Doctor.
Battlestar Galactica is a genius replication of the old 70s show with a few tweaks here and there to make it absolutely brilliant. Ok maybe more than a tweak - never in my life did I expect to see Starbuck make out with Apollo but that's when Starbuck wasn't a woman. They're still a ragtag fleet of a humans in search of Earth and they're still battling Cylons. But this time they may actually reach Earth and
