Poetry: Tarot cards

Tarot Cards.

Shuffle the deck, what do you see?
The Fool wearing his jester's hat
Spread the cards out on the mat,

The Magician playing with cups and balls
When seen in a spread, transformation is ahead,
When reversed, manipulation and dread
Let's look at the next card instead,

The High Priestess, spiritual bride and mother
Daughter of the stars, queen of the borrowed light,

Torah, the greater law with meaning divine
She is the moon leading the path to wisdom's design,

The Empress is mother, creator and nurturer
Symbolizing beauty and love, Goddess of fertility
Giver of earthly gifts, perched on her throne,
The Queen of Heaven with her crown of stars
Venus, Jupiter, Pluto and Mars,

The Emperor sits on his throne
Holding a scepter, the eagle of Holy Rome,
Representing Aries the first sign of the Zodiac
Fire and power the King of egos,
He is a leader the absolute ruler of the world,

The Hierophant, one who teaches the Holy things
He is the builder of the bridge between Heaven and Earth,
Wearing a triple crown, the keys to Heaven at his feet
He is Cancer, symbolized by the moon, emotion and love,
What will the next card show us from above?

The Lovers, relationships love and desire
Gemini two hearts in one mind, ruled by Mercury
The Twins, playful and mischievous, gentle and kind
What is the next card we will find?

The Chariot is the son of the Queen of Heaven
He is a Prince, a hero, the God of spring,
Representing the four elements,
Earth, Water, Air and Fire,
What will the next card transpire?

Strength, the woman and the lion
Fortitude representing discipline and control,
The internal battle of impulses and desires
Attributes of the element of fire,

The Hermit is the lesson of life,
The old man with his staff and lantern
Isolated and alone he is withdrawn and surreal
He is the threshold guardian of knowledge,
What will the next card reveal?

Wheel of Fortune, the wheel of the Goddess Fortuna
Opportunities of life, destiny and fate,
Possibilities ahead the future awaits,
How will the next card relate?

Justice, the Goddess of natural order
The principles of cause and effect
When reversed means life out of balance,
How will the next card connect?

The Hanged Man, loss for the greater good
Letting go of worldly attachments,
Sacrificing control to gain understanding
He is the Dying God; he is the journey of life,
Will the next card bring more strife?

Death, the reaper riding a horse
Carrying a banner of the mystic rose,
Symbolizing life and rebirth
The death card does not mean a curse,

Temperance, the winged angel.
Represented by earth and water,
Standing between death and the devil
She guides the souls of the dead to judgment,
The card of the underworld, well lit by the setting sun
Who are we? What will we become?

The Devil, symbolized by the reversed pentagram
Representing evil and sinister forces,
Disorder and chaos, he is the shadow of our desires
Temptation, pleasure and pain the adversary of fire,

The Tower, an ill omen of fate
Destruction and mayhem, chaotic and unstable,
Crisis and downfall to desecrate
Reminiscent of the Tower of Babel,
Could this be truth or merely a fable?

The Star is a light that guides us,
A source of inspiration and hope
The Star renews and strengthens
Emotional release a new beginning,

The Moon represents fear and emotions
Deception and confusion,
Is this just an illusion?

The Sun is hope for the future,
Innocence and wonder renewed
The Sun represents happiness
Contentment and bliss,
Could there be a better card than this?

Judgment represents God's promise
Life after death, absolution and rebirth,
Forgiveness and redemption

The world represents a life cycle's end,
Encompassing all the elements
Air, Earth Fire and Water,

The Tarot, what mystery it beholds
The cards are speaking, what does the future hold?
