Poetry: Blank canvas

The Magic Canvas

Darkness falls,
melting away the days illusion.
Peacefully, I sleep,
knowing that the fresh morning
will deliver an unstained canvas.

Delicately, dawn approaches,
as the creators brush is saturated
with golden rays of warmth.

White feathery clouds
are effortlessly streaked across
a freshly smeared sky of blue.

I hear the birds giving thanks
and praise for another beginning,
as the chickadees and blue-jays
are blotted into the scenery.

Morning glories and daffodils
are playfully splashed about,
as a rainbow of color
is spilled across my day.

An occasional drop of black
is carelessly splattered into being
but is quickly smudged away
leaving only a trace of its existence.

The sun sinks and a few dashes of glitter
are sprinkled against the blackened sky.
Peacefully, I sleep,
knowing that the fresh morning
will deliver an unstained canvas.
