"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16,17
There is an epidemic of spiritual compromise all around! Even in some of our evangelical churches in America.
It seems some have become so desperate for the lost to be exposed to Jesus that we water down the Gospel and preach a different Jesus then in the Scriptures.
"For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. " 2 Corinthians 11:4,5
We have become concerned we will offend sinners, if we call it sin, that they are in. Jesus was clear that He did not come to abolish the Law that His Father gave to Moses. Jesus did not come to say we are not sinners but to ask us to acknowledge our sin and seek repentance that leads to salvation.
"Jesus said; Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished." Mat. 5:17,18
We must be careful of what we allow to influence us and our children and students. There are many Bible teachers out there today who are writing books and Bible studies that we are embracing, that are doctrinal flawed.
Here is a rule that I recommend we follow:
When we want to expose ourselves and our children and students and those spiritual babes under our influence to a book , a DVD series, Bible study etc....
WE MUST BE WILLING TO EXAMINE IT TEACHINGS AND PUT IT SIDE BY SIDE THE HOLY SCRIPTURES AND SEE IF IT HOLDS TRUE OR IS IT HERESY.
If we do not have the time to do that, then we should not expose the spiritual babes around us to it. This is what Jesus said;
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe, to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea." Mark 9:42
These little ones are new Christians or spiritual babes. Ones that don't know that much about the Truth.
I am saying this because I see it all around, the resources are in our Christian bookstores on Christian radio and leaders of churches.
We will be without excuse because the Lord gave us His Truth in the form of the Bible and He gave us the Holy Spirit to guide
