I would like to tell you that you have nothing to worry about visiting Israel. I would tell you that I have 3 children and have lived in Israel for almost 30 years (minus 4 years spent in America) and that I love those children very much, and we are very much going about our daily lives.
The danger is there. You could be in a bus, at a Pizzeria or even at a Mall. It could be a holiday or just a wonderful, sunny day.
Security is beefed up around the holidays, because it seems that it is the best time for the enemy to bring us down. But security is beefed up.
From all the incidents that have happened, there are 300% more incidents that have been nipped in the bud.
I could also tell you that Israel has been so tough in the last year, and unfortunately, this is what has brought the incidents severely down, not peace, not human nature, but this very militancy.
But what I will tell you is this. It is dangerous all over the world now. You could be in England, a bus or train could be blown up. You could be in Spain and the same thing could happen. You could be in a night club in Bali and get blown up. As we all know, you could be in New York City in the World Trade Center and get blown up.
So coming to Israel is not really that much more dangerous. The most important thing for all of us is to live. If Al-Queda stops that, they have won.
So, if it is Israel you want to visit, pack your shorts, remember, to drink a lot. Stay with the tour, or if you do come alone, don't visit disputed areas that are known to be dangerous.
We have three different terrains, desert, ocean, forests. We have cities, small villages. We have historical excavations and cities of historical and religious value for Muslims, Christians and Jews. We even have the B'hai Center in Haifa. We have beaches, malls, great restaurants from ethnic groups all over the world. We have a number of nature reserves. We have great hotels and spas. We are a skip and a jump from Greece, all the Greek Isles and Turkey. We are next to Jordan and Egypt, and because there is a kind of peace between those countries, you can even visit now after being in Israel.
Winter, Fall and Spring are actually the best times to come, as the weather is milder, and Israel is considerably greener, but summer is good too. So, don't let fear control your life. For a friendly, interest-packed and fun-filled vacation, come to the Holy Land! We're waiting for you.
