In the eyes of a child: Child-like faith

A while back, my family hit a bad patch. I knew I had to turn to God to heal and restore my family. I prayed the Scriptures; I prayed in the Spirit; I praised; I fasted; I thanked God in advance for taking care of this situation. I felt as if I wasn't getting anywhere. I was the modern equivalent to the women with the issue of the blood in the Bible. I knew I had to touch God. Some way, some how, I had to touch God.

I don't know when I became born again. I was a very young child. So, facing this huge mountain that refused to be cast into the sea, I should know what to do. I kept doing what I had been doing - I prayed the Scriptures; I prayed in the Spirit; I praised; I fasted; I thanked God in advance. I was going to touch God. One way or another I was going to touch God.

My mom called. Oliver was sick and she wanted me to pray. Oliver was her dog. She and I, over the phone prayed for little Oliver. "Abba Daddy, in the name of Jesus, we come before now on behalf of Oliver," I began. "Your Word says to cast all of ours cares upon you and we both care for Oliver." Go ahead and laugh, if you like. The Bible says it and I believe it. Let's move on...

After our phone prayer, I went in and laid down on my bed. Our baby daughter, not even six months old, was asleep in her cradle next to the bed. My husband. Well, I didn't know where he was. I looked at that tiny baby sleeping. I thought of poor Oliver being sick. Then it hit me. Glory to God! I had my answer!

Back in the living room I ran, talking to God all the way. Not to be disrespectful to god, but I talk to him like I talk to everyone else. I don't get into the "thees and thous." I pray the Scriptures and talk to God like He is my best friend. He is my best friend, after all.

"Jesus, I figured it out," I began. "Remember when I was little and I would pray? Well, I'm gonna pray like that. You healed our washing machine and Suzie (another dog) and you took care of my ears. I finally realized what I need to do. I need to pray like I did when I was little. I gotta do all the things I did back then."

I was going a mile a minute. Personally, I think God really enjoys me. He has to get kick out of the way my mind works. I'm sure I am the only person ever to come up with some of the stuff I come up with.

Just like the Scripture tells me, I started reminding God of his word. Not those long passages I had been quoting; those little three and four word memory verses from Sunday School. I also began to remind Him of all the miracles
