Created on: April 16, 2008

The 90s, who could ever forget the songs, the music, the artists! Known for the mellow alternative beats, the 1990s was a decade simply defined by music. The fading out of the 80s hardcore hairbands brought on a new welcomed trend of a softer still edgier alternative form, who could forget. These artist rocked out and brought on a fresh new sound.

Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, groups like this in the 90's could go on all day. These sounds rocked out everywhere, setting a tone for an entire decade of hits that are so unforgettable, that many are still talking about them now. These groups expressed a grunge alternative mellow sound, with unique voices. Often the lyrics were fairly strange, but thats what made it what it is. There will never be another decade quite like it!

Another never forgotten is Red Hot Chili Peppers. With songs like "Scar Tissue", "Dani California" and "Californication" this unique sound of alternative grunge rock had everyone falling for them. This is one band that defined the 90s, and what set the standard for alternative rock of the decade.

Who could forget Oasis, the British rock group that took this nation by storm. Their first album "(Whats the Story) Morning Glory" came out and was compared to a similar Beatles like sound.Oasis had hits such as "Don't Look Back in Anger", "Champagne Supernova" and "Live Forever. Led by the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, this group was a definete continual hitmaker for the 90s era. The women of this decade will never forget the bad boy appeal that these British hearthrobs had to offer.

In 1992, an unforgettable alternative rock group Weezer was formed. They performed hits such as "Hash Pipe" and "Buddy Holly". This American rock group has produced five full length albums and has sold 7 million records to date. They also brought through a new record to the milennium, producing the album "Make Believe" in 2005.

The 1990s may be gone but never forgotten. Some 90s artists are still making hits today, yet it will never be the same as the previous decade. Long live the 90s and the music that created a brand new sound that defines and moves us still.
