Poetry: Love does not die

by Lottie Hamilton

Created on: April 16, 2008

A secret she struggles with
Eats away at her from inside
She wants to yell the words
Wants them all to know
How much she loves him

A secret haunts his carefree mind
He watches her cheeks tinge with pink
How her fingers move through her hair
If she was his he'd tell her
How beautiful she is

She beams up at him
With her adoring smile
Her eyes fill with admiration
At his confidence, his eloquence
Wonders if he would ever love her

He is always watching her
From the corner of his eye
His heart beating with pride
At how gracefully she handles her tasks
Wishes she would stay by his side

And every night before she leaves
She waits until his back is turned
Smiles and whispers
"I love you"

As she leaves for the night
He turns his back
So that she won't hear him say
"I love you"
