Juno MacGuff is a 16 year old high school girl who ends up having sex with her band partner Paulie Bleeker and as a result, gets pregnant. At first she had decided to get an abortion, but once she arrived to the abortion clinic, one of her female classmates was outside the clinic protesting against abortion, saying how everyone deserves to live. Juno enters the clinic and begins to really think about what she was really doing and her conscience send her running out to never look back. She was forced to deal with her problem the best way she could, telling her dad and step mother her current situation and to her surprise, they were very supportive and understanding.
I believe this was a great film, although it was low budget, it had a lot of quality in it. I found Juno's sassy and blunt nature rather amusing and kept me on my seat, wanting to watch more. It was a great storyline, showing Juno's inner struggle through the movie, from the every woman's typical horrible morning sickness, to having to deal with her chosen, future child's adoptive parents. Juno was shown to be a rather compassionate girl and not so much of a crazy one as she was portrayed in the beginning, by being concerned about where her baby would be after she gave him up, she wanted him to have a good life and to be with a family that could provide him with everything he needed.
I found this movie to be divided in two parts, one, being Juno's situation and two, a young couple who had been married for a couple of years, where the wife was desperately trying to have a child with no avail. Juno showed compassion towards Vanessa Loring (the wife), by still allowing her to be able to adopt her child even with the problems that arise for Vanessa later in the film. This film had a nice message to it, saying that even though you might think you are in the worst circumstance possible, things happen for a reason and in this case it was to allow a mother at heart to be able to have a child of her own. The film centered itself on a serious issue, yet the humor added in the mix made it a refreshing change from your traditional moral story. If you like drama/comedy movies, you should definitely watch Juno, you won't be disappointed.
