I have been working since the age of 14. That's twenty one years. In all that time I had never had a boss, manager or supervisor as awful as the one I was introduced to this last year.
I had complaints from day one. I was told by friends or relatives that these tings I complained of happen everywhere. Well I had never experienced such bold belittling, conceitedness, power hunger or racism as I now was experiencing.
I worked with my wife in this business and had for over three years. The place had had it's problems. Employees were let to do very little and get away with it. This I can accept. that does occur to an extent everywhere.
What I could not stand for was the racist comment from the get go. The harassment toward every staff member including my wife. I had to sit back and do nothing for fear one of us would be transfered or the claims that we were sticking together.
The office moral dropped to zero in no time. Talk was none. What an awful work environment it had become. Enough was enough. Complaints to the human resource started. Initially by myself and two others.
Nothing came of it. A quick visit was all. Nothing changed, not even for a moment. I was so disappointed in the higher ups of this company. I obviously was not important to them.
I could not stay and endure this everyday. I did try for close to a year. And since, so has my wife. I initially wished this person would leave and would have never come into our lives. But now, I am glad. In fact, I thank them. If this person had not come into the office I would have never left and gone back to school, something I had wanted to do for a very long time. I was comfortable with my pay and doing what I already knew. My wife had actually moved on to a higher position in the company doing exactly what she loves and could not be happier. I am near finishing a degree.
Everyone comes into our lives for a reason. We may not know why at first and may even wish they had not but it is for a reason.
So was this person the worst boss ever? Yes, by far. But I and my wife are a happier couple today, and are thankful for the experience, horrible though it was.
