Poetry: When angels cry

by Regina

When I was a little girl, sitting next to my Grandma on her bed,
She'd tell me a story about the day that my Grandpa died.
She was holding his hand close to her heart when he looked up and said,
Did I ever tell you what happens when an angel cries?

When angels cry, the Heavens open wide,
the rain falls down, and I look up at the sky,
Motionless in the moment, I know I'll be just fine,

God wipes the tears away, when angels cry.

I sat next to my mother, on her dying bed of cancer,
and she told me the story of when her daddy died.
She was in her early 20's, scared like a child,
he wiped the tears from her face, and told her

When angels cry, the Heavens open wide,
the rain falls down, and I look up at the sky,
Motionless in the moment, I know I'll be just fine,
God wipes the tears away, when angels cry.

When I got hit by the driver who had too much to drink
A Christmas Eve I'll never forget, I looked at my husband
holding our little girl. I said, it's going to be okay.
Tell her I love her, and it's okay, for an angel to cry.

When angels cry, the Heavens open wide,
the rain falls down, and I look up at the sky,
Motionless in the moment, I know I'll be just fine,
God wipes the tears away, when angels cry.

I closed my eyes to say goodbye, to the ones that I love.
I saw a light, oh so bright, and I was ready to go.
Then I saw my mom, and my grandpa, grandma too.
They all had tears in their eyes, and wings of gold.
They told me together

When angels cry, the Heavens open wide,
the rain falls down, and I look up at the sky,
Motionless in the moment, I know I'll be just fine,
God wipes the tears away, when angels cry.

My husband tells our daughter, what happened that day.
I closed my eyes and told them bye,
and they both began to cry, but I didn't die
because the angels cried.

When angels cry, the Heavens open wide,
the rain falls down, and I look up at the sky,
Motionless in the moment, I know I'll be just fine,
God wipes the tears away, when angels cry.
