My experience with a Mac

by Puller

My first experience with a mac started a while ago. Growing up I have always had one Windows computer and one Apple computer. It waspre os 9 my mac, and it was one ugly looking thing. The main computer me and my siblings used was always the PC, the mac was second thought and only used if someone else was already on the PC. Back then I didn't really understand they were two different operating systems, I just thought they were two different computers and every computer was different.

Then all of a sudden the Imac came out. My family got one that Christmas, and I thought it looked super cool. It was this egg shaped thing which was clear on the back part, and the whole computer was built behind the screen! Not only did the whole computer look neat but the mouse and keyboard matched the dark grayish blue color of the computer. Now me and my siblings all were using the Imac as our primary computer but the PC wasn't totally forgotten about. We fled to the Imac because it looked cool, not because its operating system was innovative or that much different. I actually thought it was kind of bare. For years I used that computer with Mac os 9. It was anything but a pretty and revolutionary operating system to me.

The next thing I knew it Mac os X Cheetah came out and that was when the amazement started to come in. Once we had it loaded on our Imac I was blown away the first time I saw it! It was beautiful, the background, the dock, and the transparency! Now I really dint care to much for that PC. It wasn't that it was bad or anything, but the Mac now looked amazing. I was growing up and using a computer more and more. I was beginning to stare at the computer more and more too, and it was nice to look at the visual pleasings of the mac's new interface.

The next two versions of os X Puma and Jaguar are a blur to me, I don't really remember anything innovative and great. They had there little things but it wasn't as big as the leap was from os 9 to os X for the first time. I mean this dock just came at you and it was great for launching and managing open applications. The start of os X and the incorporation of the dock was the first major step away from Microsoft in my eyes. It wasn't for me until os X Panther came out where the innovation of Mac really came into my eyes. They obviously kept the great dock, but they also added this small feature called expose. This little feature called expose allowed a user to quickly see all open application in thumbnail for and easily select
