I Am
Come, wend your way on foot
breathe deeply of my fragrance.
Hear the tiny blue birds
singing of my beauty.
Come, cross my icy streams
rest upon an old fir stump.
In a pale shaft of sun
I am magnificent.
Come, let us walk slowly
down a crooked dusty path
I have things to show you
I know you'll understand.
Look up in awe as life
circles a behemoth sky
my snowy peaks glisten,
cold in a brilliant light.
Come, let us journey on
to a single copse of trees.
A verdant canopy
hides wonders yet unseen.
I am beyond your senses
I'm a cougar in the night.
I'm peering through the pupil
of a hawks watchful eye.
