Poetry: Redemption

by Liz Chase

Created on: April 15, 2008

Listen to these words my friend
Listen to me now
Stop and look and listen girl
And I'll try to tell you how

How to stop and start anew
How to mend those scars
I've been there once, I have my friend
I am here to help you now

I owe my life, my breath to Him
I owe Him more than that
He reached down into my emptiness
My heart, He gave me back

I once had thrown it all away
I was tired of the pain
My friend, He met me there that day
To Him I offered my disdain

In turn He gave me a new life
A new joy and brand new heart
Listen girl, He made me whole
To others I was junk and to Him I am art
