Starving.
I have a friend that I love
I hold her so close to my heart
If could be, I'd embrace
Hug her, protect her, from her own pain
I see her struggle
I stand by, silently and watch
As she withers down
Almost a skeleton now
Her pain is known
By myself, by others, eyes resigned
Breaths weary, exhausted
Hearts kept in check, just watching
My path to help is unclear
Should I murmur my own words
Should the words be penned
Or maybe, just maybe, a poem would do
Panic, fear, horror and shame
All emotions experienced
Potentially shared, confided, let out
So much kept locked, key and gate a secret
I watch from a distance
Smiles, laughter, silliness only shared
But the items are noticed
And concern is mounted
So I will not be quiet any longer
I will not watch as my friend
Passes silently, facing a storm inside
The winds strong, the pain literal
I will be quiet no longer
I have felt those winds
Cutting against you
And I still stand
As I will stand beside you
My hand in yours
Your life is precious, your words are gold
Dazed, starvingthat's not you
That is not who you should be
Imprisoned by fears and struggles
A suffering so many don't share
Not able to understand
I understand and I love
As does He, our Father
And I will stand beside you
My hand in yours, while you walk ahead
Willing to allow those in
Some to help
Some to comfort
And some, like me, to just cry with you
