Dressing for success is the key. An individual who is looking for a future and long lasting relationship with any company should dress according to the expected norm. Of course, some potential candidates entering the workforce may test that norm with inappropriate attire. Inappropriate attire on an interview may cause you to be looked over for a job opportunity.
Traditionally, women have been advised to wear a nice blouse with a knee length skirt. In addition, panty hose should be worn with low heeled shoes. Accents that can compliment your outfit would be a small purse, necklace and watch. Women should not wear huge earrings.
There should be an indication of professionalism apparent when walking into an interview room. A potential candidate for a position at a hiring firm will have a certain level of anxiety upon going on his or her interview. For this reason, you should feel comfortable which creates less stress.
Today's dress standards for interview purposes have changed especially for women. It has become a common practice for women to wear a nice business suit, whether with pants or skirt. A tailored look is ideal for the office. What women should not wear on an interview? Obviously, women shouldn't wear skirts too far above the knees. How can you measure whether the skirt is too short? Test this by having a seat in a chair. If you can't sit comfortably without your skirt rising above your thighs, you should realize that this particular item will not work for an interview. Never wear a low cut blouse. This will take the interviewer's attention away from the interview.
An interviewer should be impressed by your knowledge and expertise for the job in which you are applying. Men, in comparison, should aim for a look that represents professionalism as well as casual. It's appropriate for men to wear a shirt and tie accompanied by khakis. In addition, a blazer will accent his look. A business suit is also acceptable as long as it's not the shiny and silky material. It's obvious, there should be no tennis shoes or jeans (especially the ones hanging below your bottom) be worn on an interview. Most definitely, there should not be any T-shirts ot T-shirts with writings.
Keep in mind, the first impression is the lasting impression. Ideally, professionalism should be everyone's top priority when being interviewed for a desired job. When going on an interview, your hopes and dreams may lie within how you present yourself in several areas. Remember to dress for success!
