Should laws be passed to limit gun ownership further

No. One of the worst things to start the loss of our freedom is to have laws passed to restrict gun ownership which leads to gun confiscation. Just look at history and the mass murders and you will understand that gun control enables unbelievable atrocities on people. One of the first things Hitler did was confiscate the guns and millions were slaughtered. Then the Vietnam war was abandoned and the people were defenseless and millions were slaughtered again. These two examples show what happens when merciless dictators have all the guns and no concern for people. But still guns alone aren't the only weapons for murder, just look at the Tutsis and Hutus where clubs, machetes, knives were the choice of the murderers.

I believe it is best if the general law abiding population has the right to own guns and defend there home and homeland if need be. If guns become illegal and then they are confiscated then the criminals will still have there guns because there is no way to trace the ownership on those guns. Criminals don't apply for a license and they don't buy retail so the gun is traceable. They don't open themselves up for investigation and refusal to purchase the gun. They understand that if they are a felon then gun possession is another felony so they get there guns through illegal methods. Gun possession for them is wrong but that is not a consideration at all. It makes no sense to leave law abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals. Want to make criminals happy just pass gun control on the law abiding public.

About 30,000 gun deaths are way too many but if you remove the criminal and drug killings then the total would drop way way down. I don't know how to find that statistic but most murders are a part of the criminal element. Stop coddling criminals, prosecute gun violations by criminals harshly and make jail time very unpleasant then some reduction in murders will start to happen. Most criminals don't mind going to jail because jail is not much more difficult than being on the streets. That reduces the main deterrent and the fear of jail is gone so crime continues and increases.
